A ping test can help you diagnose connection issues.
The F2 menu also displays a ping to the servers ingame.
To perform a ping test hold down your windows key and press the R. Type in CMD and hit enter. This will open cmd prompt (a black box). Carefully type the following without the quotes, being sure to add the spaces and periods "ping 199.122.7.1" You should get a bunch of data back from the Utherverse server.

If your results have a lot of asterixis, timeout messages and/or very slow ping results you should contact your Internet Service Provider and see if they can help you.
