Most clubs and locations in Utherverse have music playing when you load into them. Often Utherverse or users themselves hire DJ's to stream music into events. There are multiple ways to add music and sounds to your places.
How to add music or sounds to your places[]
Type | Short Discription |
---|---|
Audio Play Music | The main music player for ingame. Often use to play radio streams or dj streams |
Web Browser (Chromium) | The Web Browser script can be used as an alternative to the Audio Play Music script. |
Audio Add Sound | This script makes it possible to play externally hosted wav format sounds (up to 120 seconds) in world. |
Ambient Sounds | Used to create specific plaques with that add specific ambient sounds on them that trigger on approach. |
Sound settings[]
Most sound issues can be fixed in the Game Settings panel. Open the Settings menu by clicking the wrench icon in the Corner Ring or pressing the F7 key on your keyboard while in game.
Check that the Utherverse Client is not muted in your Windows Volume Mixer by clicking the Speaker icon in the right-hand side of your Taskbar (see picture opposite).
Ensure following checkboxes are set to red:
Setting | Options | Explanation |
---|---|---|
Play Streaming Music | This allows your client to load the music stream attached to the Play Music script in a property. For this to work you need to have Windows Media Player set to your default media player on your computer (see below). | |
Play Streaming Video | This allows your client to load videos in game attached to the Web Browser (Chromium) script in a property. | |
Play World Sounds | This allows the playback of in-world sounds. including sounds from the Audio Add Sound and the ambient sound scripts. | |
Play Notification Sounds | This disabled sound notification from chat messages and friends that come online. In order for this to work Play World Sounds must be enabled. | |
Maintain Sound | This allows music to persist when you <Alt>+<Tab> out of the game client and play in the background. This can be useful if you want to keep listening to the music. Otherwise it will cut out and only continue when you are back in the game. |
Set Windows Media Player to your default media player in Windows 10 using Windows Start button, then select Settings (cog icon) > Apps > Default apps > Music player. Additionally, you can refresh or install Windows Media Player 12 at https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/18612/windows-media-player
If you are having trouble hearing the stream in clubs try asking for the stream URL in Local chat. Most clubs will be more than happy to give you a URL that you can open in your browser. However the Chrome web browser does not open '.asx' streams, but Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer does.
Note too that many DJs here also have their stream on their Social Center profile.
Music Control[]
The Music Control interface allows you to control the sound level of all music players across Utherverse. It also remembers this when changing zones. You can also use this to start, stop or pause a music stream. This only only affects your experience and does not change the music for anyone else. Open the Music Control interface from the Corner Ring using the Home Options menu , or by typing /music in the Chat panel
The initial level of the Volume slider is also on the Settings panel on the Media tab.
Troubleshooting music and sound problems[]
First that you have the audio enabled in the client. When you have the client open on the top right you will see a down arrow that will expand to give you the rest of the menu options available to you. Select this and then options. Please make sure Streaming Audio and or Video is properly selected in here.
Windows Media Player[]
Verify that you have Windows Media Player set as your default media player for streaming windows media content. We use the default media codecs on your computer to de-code windows streaming content. sometimes if you install a different media player (Quicktime, Real Media Player, etc) It will overwrite the default settings and the in-game streaming will no longer work. So open up Windows Media Player, put your mouse cursor at the top where it says "windows media player" and right click. You should get a little drop down menu with a couple options. I want you to select "Tools" and then "Options" Now in here there should be a tab called "File Types" if you select that you will see a list of the file types associated with Windows Media Player. The ones we are concerned with are the top 3. Please make sure that they are all checked and not "greyed out" if they are greyed out unselect the item and re-check it again to properly associate the windows media formats with the windows media player.
Configuration problems[]
Now, for the last one. If the above two things don't work for you, it may just be a client configuration problem. We have found that on some PCs, if users have more than one Utherverse account and have turned the audio on or off on that account and then switched accounts... sometimes it will error on the client side. We are currently trying to address this issue. In the mean time there is a quick fix.
Windows 7 to 11
- Click Start
- Click Computer
- Click Local Disk C:/
- Click Users
- Click "your folder" This folder should be the same as the name on top of your start menu.
- Click AppData.
This folder and the ones below it may or may not be hidden. If they are, please follow the Unhide folders steps listed at the bottom of this message before proceeding.
- Click Roaming.
- Click Utherverse
- Click the folder that has a branding number. For Example: {FF92D786-2E61-4410-8E67-5BC370DB244D}
- Once inside this folder, delete the config.xml
This file stores some basic information such as your Default Language, Texture Detail, etc. I want you to delete this file and then re-start the client. The Utherverse Client will automatically regenerate this file with all of the default settings, including your audio preferences.
Internet Explorer proxy settings[]
One more thing to check is your Internet Explorer proxy settings. Please use the following steps to check your proxy settings
- Open Internet Explorer
- Go to the 'Tools' menu
- Select 'Internet Options'
- Click on the 'Connections' tab
- Click the 'LAN Settings' button
- Uncheck all of the boxes
- Click 'OK' to apply your changes
- Click 'OK' to close the Properties window
If all of this still doesn't work, please submit a copy of your debug log, found in C:\Program Files\Utherverse Digital Inc\Utherverse 3D Client so we can try and diagnose this problem further.
